Child Protection & Photographs
When discussing shoots with customers I am sometimes met by club officials with concerns about photography and persons under the age of 18. I take these concerns seriously, and for this reason I have created this page to alleviate these concerns.
The Australian Sports Commission publishes a comprehensive information sheet on images relating to children. From this resource I implement a number of solutions to protect anyone under the age of 18:
Galleries containing under 18's are password protected
During events I will hand cards to team/club officials which will contain the password to access the gallery for the event.
No identifying information accompanies photos
I keep my website simple with no identifying information (personal names/schools/hobbies/player profiles etc.) accompanying the galleries.
Right click function disabled
Images cannot be saved off the website as the right click 'save image as' function has been disabled by special programming code within the website.
Workplace checks
I can provide a Working with Children Certificate, and am more than happy to provide professional & personal references as well as further details on my background as required.
Click below to view the ASC Information Sheet, it will open in a new window/tab, so you made need to enable popups.
ASC Information Sheet
As indicated by the information sheet:
In Australia, generally speaking, there is no law restricting photography of people (including children) in public spaces... There are obvious exceptions to this, which are listed within the document.
I hope this page helps to minimise any concerns by individuals and organisations when considering my services. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact me on 0413 801 543 or via email andrew@abphotos.com.au
